Silvia's Ciorba cu Fasole si pasta, Italian Pasta Facoli ( or Fagioli )

1 cup finely chopped onions
5 tbsp oil
1 cup chopped bacon
2 cups red or white boiled beans
2 cups white kidney beans boiled
3 cups chicken broth
2 cups packaged elbow pasta
1 tbsp fresh garlic
2 cups diced tomatoes

1 tsp rosemary
1 cup peppers diced
1 tsp oregano
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tbsp parsley
1 tsp pepper
1/2 cup grated Romano cheese
3 cups water
salt to taste

Crisp the bacon and then sauté onions in oil in a saucepan over medium heat for 5 minutes or until tender. Add garlic
and sauté a little longer. Add peppers and sauté more. Add tomatoes and sauté for another five minutes. Add
beans, water and chicken broth; mix well.
Add the rest of the ingredients. Boil slowly for 30 minutes. Simmer for 1 hour. Ladle into soup bowls.
Serve with cheese and garnish with parsley.
You can make this with smoked pork shoulder or beef or without meat.
